for an upcoming author visit
Offering Elvis & Olive for sale to students before I visit your class is a great idea. Here's why:
• Students who have read the book before I come usually get more out of my presentation
• Selling books can help your school offset my presentation fee. Scholastic gives teachers a 40% discount on books related to an author visit. Mark up the books to retail price for a fundraiser. If you prefer, pass the savings on to your students.
Books can sometimes take a while to arrive. Plus, kids need some time to read. So ordering them a month or two in advance is best.
Scholastic gives you two ways to order:
Online
Go to the Teacher Store on the Scholastic website, and enter Elvis & Olive in the search field. Enter the number of books you think you’ll need. Proceed to the Checkout, and type in the promotional code AUTHOR to receive the 40% discount.
By phone
Call 1-800-SCHOLASTIC (1-800-724-6527). Choose option #3 (instructional and supplemental materials). Tell your customer service representative that the order is for an upcoming author/illustrator visit to receive your 40% discount.

How to sell the books
Let parents know that the book is for sale in anticipation of an upcoming author visit. You can make your own flyer, or email me and I'll send you a flyer I made. If the book will be a part of a book fair, feel free to skip the flyer.

Return unsold books for a refund
Scholastic gladly accepts returns of any unsold copies, and credits your account with the refund. Simply send books to:
Scholastic Inc.
Attn: Book Returns
3030 Robinson Road
Jefferson City, MO 65111
The only catch is that you must pay for return shipping. Be sure to enclose:
1) A copy of your invoice
2) A letter explaining how many copies of each title you sold, and how many of each you are returning, and a calculation of the balance owed.
3) A check for the total cost of books you sold (if you have not pre-paid for your books), taking into account your 40% discount.
Thanks for your support of Elvis & Olive!
